Basic Operating Instructions

  • Power ON: Press and hold the power button down for 3 to 5 seconds and then release.
  • Power OFF: Press and hold the power button down for 3 to 5 seconds and then release.

SIM/SAM Card and Battery Installation

SIM/SAM Card

  1. Remove the back cover.
  2. Gently remove the battery from the A920MAX.
  3. Insert the card into the relevant card slot.
  4. Replace the battery and back cover.

Preparing Battery for Use

  1. Open the battery cover on the bottom of the terminal.
  2. Take out the battery.
  3. Locate the white tab on the battery and peel back carefully until it is fully removed and the POGO pins are visible.

Card Readers

Magnetic Stripe Card

Slide the card through the card reader slot from left to right or from right to left with the magnetic strip oriented towards the body of the device. Make sure that the card is fully inserted into the card reader while swiping the card.

IC/Smart Card Reader

Insert the card fully into the reader with the metallic contacts facing up and towards the device. Make sure that the card is fully inserted into the card reader while scanning the card.

Contactless Card Reader

The contactless card reader reads cards and devices placed roughly within an inch (2.5 mm). For best results, place as close to the reader as possible and center the card over the indicated area at the top of the terminal.

Cleaning the Device

  • Do not use industrial strength or abrasive cleaner as it may damage or scratch the screen.
  • Do not immerse the device in water or liquid.
  • Do not spray water or cleaner into EMV Card Reader or ports.
  • To clean the screen, apply distilled water or mild glass cleaner onto a soft, lint-free cloth and gently wipe terminal.

Lithium Ion Battery

  • Do not use or place the battery in direct sunlight and/or smokey, dusty environments.
  • Do not strike, squeeze, and/or tread on battery.
  • Do not throw the battery in any liquids or place in/near fires.
  • If the battery is deformed or damaged, please stop using immediately and replace it.
  • If the continuous working time is only half of a new battery, the battery life may be at its end. Please replace it.
  • The specified battery model and charger must be used, otherwise there may be an explosion.
  • The charging time cannot exceed 24 hours. If the battery is out of power, please recharge in an appropriate time and then disconnect the device.
  • Please recharge the battery at least once every 6 months to avoid shortening its life.
  • Replace battery every two years.
  • Be sure to follow the instructions to dispose of wasted batteries.

Terminal Installation & General Usage Tips

  • USB Port: connect to a USB-enabled device.
  • SAM/SIM/microSD Cards:
    • Open the battery cover underneath the terminal.
    • Remove the battery.
    • Insert SAM/SIM/microSD cards into the corresponding card slots.
  • Avoid placing this product in direct sunlight for extended periods, nor in environments with excessively high temperature, moisture or dust.
  • Only qualified personnel should repair this product.
  • Before using cards in the chip & magstripe readers, please ensure they are free from any foreign objects.

A920MAX Instructions

  • Power On/Off:
    • Power On: Press and hold the Power button for 5 seconds until the LCD lights on, showing that the terminal is being turned on.
    • Power Off: Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds until the shutdown menu appears, tap Power Off > Click Power Off, and “Shutting Down” will appear.
  • Contactless Transactions: Tap a contactless-enabled card or smartphone in proximity to the top end of the terminal where the contactless sensor is located, indicated by the contactless icon.
  • Chip Card Transactions: With the card’s chip facing upwards, insert the chip card fully into the chip card slot.
  • Magnetic Stripe Transactions: With the card’s magnetic stripe facing downwards, swipe the card through the magnetic reader at a constant speed, in either direction.
  • Paper Receipts: Tear off the receipt at a 45-degree angle to the paper cutter.
  • Battery Charging: With a charging cable connected, the device’s charging status shows on the display.

Important Safety Warning

  • Do not place the A920MAX terminal or battery in direct sunlight, nor in environments with excessively high temperatures, smoke, dust, or dampness.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the battery, nor insert or use foreign objects to penetrate the casing. Never place the battery in a fire or excessively hot surfaces. Take care not to drop the battery. Excessive external shocks or pressure could cause battery liquid leakage or result in the battery catching fire or even exploding. Keep the battery well away from children and animals.
  • Immediately replace any battery which appears to be deformed, expanded or in an overheated state.
  • We recommend you only use power adaptors supplied by PAX Technology. If you must use specifications meet exactly those recommended for our products, which must comply with international and local regulations & standards. Incompatible power supplies, chargers, or batteries could cause fires or even explosions and will invalidate any product warranty.
  • Charge the battery when the indicator level is low, but make sure to never charge a battery continuously for more than 24 hours. If a battery is not used for a long time, please charge it at least once every 6 months to avoid overcharge or discharge damage. For long-term optimal product performance, it is recommended that a battery be replaced after 2 years of continual usage.
  • When disposing of the device, battery, or accessories, please do so responsibly and according to local regulations. These are not household waste items. Improper disposal of the battery could cause a fire or explosion, and any liquid leakage could be damaging to the environment and toxic to humans & animals.
