Basic Operating Instructions
The following sections provide basic operating instructions.
Power ON/OFF
- Power on: Press the ON/OFF button for two seconds until the LCD backlight lights up and the terminal turns on successfully.
- Power off: Press the ON/OFF button for two seconds until the LCD nodisplay, the terminal turns off successfully.
Magnetic Stripe Card
- Put magnetic stripe side of magnetic card towards device interior, swipe the card with a steady speed during through magnetic reader slot. (Support bi-directional swiping)
IC Card
- Put IC card chip side upward, push-in IC card slot and to bottom.
Shred paper operating Instructions
Make paper 45 degrees angle right to paper knife and shred paper.
Tap contactless card (optional)
Put the contactless card into the sensing area above the LCD
Card Readers
The A80 includes the following card readers:
Magnetic Stripe Card
Place magnetic stripe side of magnetic card towards device interior, swipe the card with a steady speed during through magnetic reader slot.
{Supports bi-directional swiping)
IC/Smart Card Reader
Insert the card fully into the reader with the metallic contacts facing up and towards the device. Make sure that the card is fully inserted into the card reader while scanning the card.
Contactless Card Reader
The contactless card reader reads cards and devices placed roughly within an inch (2.5 mm). For best results, place as close to the reader as possible and center the card over the indicated area.
Terminal Installation & General Usage Tips
Installation
POWER port connects to the external power adapter.
PINPAD port connects to PINPAD.
RS232 port connects to serial port.
LAN port connects to the network cable (optional).
PHONE port connects to telephone (optional).
SAM card: Remove the cover at the bottom of the terminal. Insert the SAM card to the corresponding card slot.
Usage Tips
- If any cables become damaged, seek a replacement.
- Do not insert unknown materials into any port on the A80; this may cause serious damage.
- If repairs are required, please contact a professional technician instead of attempting them on your own.
- Avoid exposing the device to an excessively hot, dusty, or strong electromagnetic environment.
- Do not vibrate, shake, or drop the device.
Password Entering Tips
It is highly recommended to enter password as following ways:
- Set up anti-peep shields. Enter the password with the shield by the structure of the cashier’s desk.
- Place the POS terminal at an appropriate angle and make sure it is difficult for others to read the password. For example, the POS was installed above the movable bracket.
- When entering the password, avoid surrounding video surveillance.
- Post written instructions to remind the customers to hide their passwords and PINs with their body or palm when entering passwords.
- Merchants can also choose other ways to protect the customer’s input password.

For body-worn operation, this device has been tested and meets the FCC RF exposure guidelines for use with an accessory that contains no metal and positions the device a minimum of 5 mm from the body. RF exposure compliance with any body-worn accessory that contains metal was not tested and certified. And use of such body-worn accessory should be avoided. Accessory available in market and must be used to keep use distance 5 mm from EUT to body-worn operation.
