QA Engineer

At PAX, you’ll work alongside a collaborative, forward-thinking team in a fast-paced environment where innovation is encouraged and ideas move quickly from concept to reality.

We’re looking for a QA Engineer who will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our end-to-end payment ecosystem. Your mission is to validate the seamless interaction between our hardware devices, payment software, application services, and management portals. You will combine manual expertise with automated testing to ensure secure, stable, and high-performance payment experiences for our clients.

This is an onsite role in our Jacksonville office working Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm.

  • End-to-End Product Testing: Perform functional, regression, and compatibility testing for payment applications, back-end services (APIs), and web-based management portals.
  • Hardware-Software Integration: Validate the integration between software components and physical payment hardware (terminals, readers), ensuring stable communication protocols and device connectivity.
  • Test Case Development: Design, document, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases that cover complex payment scenarios and edge cases.
  • Automated Testing: Develop and maintain automated test scripts for UI and API layers to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and track software defects. Utilize log analysis and network sniffing tools to pinpoint root causes and work closely with developers for resolution.
  • Quality Standards: Participate in requirement reviews and provide feedback to ensure products meet industry-standard payment security and compliance requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance or testing.
  • Strong experience testing on Android platforms.
  • Familiarity with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, JMeter) and debugging/proxy tools (e.g., Charles, Fiddler).
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, Selenium, or Pytest).
  • Analytical Thinking: Ability to think like a user and a “breaker” to identify complex logical flaws in payment flows.
  • Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to coordinate with hardware, software, and product teams.
  • Learning Agility: A fast learner capable of quickly mastering proprietary software frameworks and hardware specifications.
  • Previous experience in the Payment industry.
  • Knowledge of payment industry standards such as EMV, PCI-DSS, or MSR protocols.
  • Experience with performance or stress testing for high-concurrency systems.
  • Ability to read or debug code in Python, Java.
