Nilson Report: PAX Positioned as Global Alternative to VeriFone and Ingenico

July 9, 2011-The Nilson Report gave front page coverage to PAX in it’s June issue, saying that among POS manufacturers “PAX Technology is the fastest growing and is positioning itself to be a global alternative to VeriFone and Ingenico”.

The article started by commenting on the fact that “The number of global vendors will be reduced to two if Hypercom’s agreement to be acquired by VeriFone goes through. (The U.S. Department of Justice has rejected VeriFone’s plan to sell Hypercom’s U.S. business to Ingenico, but will likely drop its objection to the merger if a suitable buyer can be found for those assets.)”.

The article went on to comment that “PAX has a full range of PCI- compliant POS terminals including mobile, countertop, multilane, multimedia, and contactless devices. It sells direct in China and the U.S., and works through channel partners in Asia, Europe, the Middle East/Africa, and Latin America. Fueling its expansion are proceeds from the company’s public offering on the Hong Kong stock exchange in the fourth quarter of 2010.”

The key products from the existing product portfolio were mentioned, the S80 countertop, S90 mobile wireless, SP30 multilane secure PINpad and MT30 multimedia terminal. The article concluded by highlighting the fact that PAX today sells in over 40 countries and that sales of the company’s POS terminals grew by over 71% from 2009 to 2010.
